The Dog Next Door
Overview

The Dog Next Door is a small personally funded canine
rescue located outside Atlanta, GA in Marietta.  I have been
rescuing and placing dogs in loving homes since 2003.
Because I do this out of my home and pay all expenses
myself the number of dogs at any given time is limited.   I try to
rescue highly adoptable dogs but occasionally my heart is
touched by one so terrified and damaged that I know it may
never find a home.  If it does, I feel very blessed indeed that
there is a compassionate person out there that can look into
the heart of these special animals and see more than the
timidness, fear, and pain, and see the potential in these
special animals - see and understand that dogs, like
humans, can be changed with time, love and a lot of patience.
I believe there is a special place in heaven for those who love
the unwanted and undesirable "the least of these," whether it
is animal or human.

make your dog's summer or winter safer and
more enjoyable

citizen and better housemate
Care - Holistic health tips for the health and
beauty of  your pet
Legislation - Links to pending laws and news
concerning the care and treatment of dogs

dogs and why you should save a life and
adopt rather than buy a dog

prevention and dog food
By the end of 2009 we plan to offer spay and
neuter assistance to those on fixed incomes
falling into the poverty level
We currently fall under the IRS $5000 rule for
charitable applications, but we are not a
certified tax exempt organization.  For more
information, see IRS Exceptions to
Application Requirement .     After filing our
2008 taxes, our 2009 goal is to get our
federal exempt status.  However, consult your
tax professional as your donations for
2008and 2009  ARE deductible under the
$5000 rule - please email me for my tax ID
number and a receipt if you did not get one.

Donations need to be made to Deborah Wood
personally (deb@thedognextdoor.com) via pay pal or
mailed to 889 Trace Circle, Marietta, GA 30066.
Please know that every penny we receive is used for
the dogs in our care or to aide dog owners in dire
situations (the elderly or disadvantaged with vet bills,
pet deposits in post foreclosure relocation, etc.).  If
you would like a monthly statement for our
transactions, email us.
Our records are open to
you.

Some may question our decision to assist those
who are struggling financially. However, our
experience is that those people will own pets
REGARDLESS of whether they receive help and it is
in the best interest of the pets to aid their guardians
in caring for them.  If the home provided is a kind,
loving home and the pet is otherwise well-cared for
people will be able to apply to Booda's Fund or
Bandit's Fund for aid.

Additionally, we are currently sanctuarying for life
several senior dogs between the ages of 7 and 14
who are unadoptable and two, who due to
temperament, are probably unadoptable in most but
the most exceptional circumstance.  Our total
sanctuaries are 8 and two of those MAY be
adoptable in a PERFECT situation.

ALWAYS strapped for money, but this month we are truly
desperate - please please consider contributing to us by
purchasing one of our LOVELY birdhouse, birdfeeder, pet or
garden gifts. I cannot post my mailing address because
people will (and have) literally tied dogs to my mailbox  - one
such shocking instance was in the middle of an ice storm
around 2006 and the neighbors came to me and asked "did
you tie a dog to your mailbox?" Well that was a very stupid
question, but the poor baby was nearly frozen and so loved
cuddling in the electric blanket, he was just a baby about 6
months old and found a wonderful home in less than a month.
Contributions can also be made to paypal at
deb@thedognextdoor.com

The Dog Next Door survived December and thanks to so many we managed to avoid
foreclosure. We got into trouble when I lost my job due to illness and began falling .  behind
four My unemployment runs out with the payment I receive months later as vet bills were put
before fundamentals.  God bless you and thank on March 4.  We are DESPERATE for
donations to stay afloat.

I, however, am not sitting on my duff.  I am starting two businesses.  One selling a wonderful
line of gift items - I will set up shop at flea markets, shows, home shows, animal fairs, anything
pulling myself up but can use your help ASK ME FOR MY CATALOGS!!! Pass them to friends.
Invite me to your office to show them.

I am also a distributor for one of the most amazing iines of jewelry available, Park Lane.  Want
to know how to own the watch to the left for free?  Call me.  Looking for a great fun way to
earn $200, $300, $500 extra per month?  Ask me.  Working part time for minimum wage?
Want to work part time for $25, 30, 50/hour?  As me.  I am going to build this business and to
do that I need distributors, sales people, people who love jewelry, enjoy other people and like
adventure and meeting people.  Win fabulous trips and yes, this is a real job.  With real
money, with real benefits for real people.

In the meantime, help me - help these dogs donate, ask me for a catalog, buy my birdhouse at
www.dogstargifts.com.  Donate and get one free with your donation.  I have no idea how I am
going to make ends meet in March with no income, much less feed the dogs - so I am relying
totally on the generosity of those who love dogs, have the money and appreciate the hard
work I put into saving them.

I am deeply humbled by the support of the public but our needs grow as the economy declines
- I do more and more and more with less and less.
see Yiska's page "Save Yiska" - and
see the senior sanctuaries we have -- and wehave another beautiful old soul
coming in next week.  Will you sponsor one for $10/month?  We could sure use your
help.
