| DISASTER STRIKES THE DOG NEXT DOOR - INFERNO LEAVES 16 DOGS AND THEIR GUARDIAN HOMELESS STRUGGLING TO RAISE MONEY TO RENT A NEW HOME WHILE WE REBUILD |
This is the living room/dining room, the first room you enter from the front door and one level up from the origin of the fire. From where
this photo was taken, I could reach out and behind me and touch the crate where Boudreaux was - he was right beside the LOCKED STEEL
front door left inside when the fire breached the stairwell and raged up between me and him. I had removed 11 dogs from the lower level
where they were all watching me get ready for a job interview but two returned to the burning building. Ultimately I got 17 out and the fire
department saved Boudreaux but two returned - presumably after they took me to the hospital - and perished - They are in boarding now

It has been quite a journey from January 11 at 9:23 a.m. until today. The insurance FINALLY paid for the rebuild and the
builders began work the Tuesday after Memorial Day. I have this rental house through August and it's a four month rebuild
(now how will they manage THAT???) but Meridian assures me they will - their goal is to be finished the end of July and I can
hardly wait. Although I must say, I went by the other day - they had the floors ripped up, all the walls torn down, my home was a
skeleton of wooden bones - charred bones and it wreaked of the death and sadness that has brought me to this place. I can
only hope that somehow it will be new and fresh and the memories of that horrible day will fade or at least not haunt me in the
night.
There are not enough words to thanks the hundreds of people who stepped up to help us in our time of need. My vet bill for
boarding my dogs was in the THOUSANDS of dollars and insurance did not cover a dime. What I did not get in donations, I
paid for out of the money they gave me to rent a house (which is an outrageous 1000 per month) - outrageous because it's in
horrible condition - but BUT the landlord DID allow me to bring 18 dogs onto his property and that says a lot about his heart. I
had a horrible time finding ANYONE to rent to all of us - some said - bring a few but leave the rest in boarding - no. I could not
do that. They were already so traumatized from the fire, being boarded for 45 days and the general chaos surrounding the
event that I don't think some would have survived being boarding into the MONTHS this has taken.
Despite the tragedy of losing two dogs - our beloved Chockie and Peaches - the Lord has taken the tragedy and turned it into a
small miracle. Not just in replacing my house with a new home - from the floors to the roof - but in my heart. There is a lot to
be said for running into a blazing inferno 8 times to save dogs and surviving - I have absolute faith that I was covered with the
wings of angels. I've been asked many times how can you have faith that this is God when He let Chockie and Peaches die.
He didn't. I don't know how to explain it except to say that if you were walking with your child holding that child's hand there is
absolutely nothing to prevent a drunk driver from jumping a curb and erasing forever the one thing you would give your life to
save. Would it be your fault? Of course not. Was it because you were not diligent? Of course not. And, what would you do?
You'd immediately swoop to your child's aid. You'd call 911, perform life saving procedures, keep anyone from moving your
child prior to the arrival of paramedics, you'd do everything in your power to right a terrible wrong.
That is much like God works. Tragedy befalls us despite His loving us. Despite His best efforts to protect us - but when
tragedy does strike, He is the first to our aide. He is there to hold us, pick us up, show us the way to move past the
nightmares. It REALLY IS as simple as that.
I am still unemployed and desperate DESPERATE FOR A JOB. If any of you has a line on work - any work - but particularly part
time or full time legal secretary or paralegal work, please please contact me. 770-875-9659. Administrative work of any kind
would be my preference, however, I will also work retail, construction, anything to earn a living.
